tweak ur game

hey peeps;

I have tried to use some of the old cod4 tweaks on black ops and some work:

\\cl_drawfps 1 This will show ur FPS on the right upper corner
\\com_maxfps 125 This will increase your FPS
\\cl_maxpackets 100 This will decrease your ping

Changes to the basic client settings can produce FPS boosts. Some of these are shown below:

Console Settings:

Dinamic Lights "Normal" VS Dinamic Lights "OFF" ~5%
Smoke Smoothing "ON" VS Smoke Smoothing "OFF" ~10%

you need to enter these commands ingame in the console
you can open the console witch the key on your keyboard that is on the left of the nr 1 key: you guys have diff keyb than me so i dunno what key is there:

some other things ive done to increse performance :
- download tuneup utillities trial and let that optimise your system and run 1 click maintenance
- go to www.canirunit.com to see if your hardware is fit for this game

conclusion:
mine isnt and trinny is gonna buy me a new pc now (she just doesnt know it yet)

i updated the list:

Run Steam in Offline mode > Start Black Ops > End the steam.exe process > Set BO process priority to high
/r_multiGpu - should be set to "0" if you do not have a multi-gpu graphics card.
/r_blur_allowed - people are reporting minor frame boosts with this set to "0"
/r_distortion - people are reporting minor frame boosts with this set to "0"
/r_dof_enable - people are reporting minor frame boosts with depth of field set to "0"
/r_glow_allowed - people are reporting huge frame boosts with this set to "0"
/cg_brass - people are reporting minor frame boosts with depth of field set to "0"
/r_cachemodellighting "1" - people are reporting minor frame boosts with depth of field set to "1"
/r_cacheSmodellighting "1" - people are reporting minor frame boosts with depth of field set to "1"
\\cl_maxpackets 100
\\snaps 30
\\com_maxfps 100 OR 125

Right click on Black Ops Multi in steam games
Go Properties -> Updates -> Untick Enable steam cloud sync.
If the above doesn\'t work try the following..
Steam > Settings > In Game > uncheck ?Enable Steam Community In-Game?

r_specular 0 //Really good one
cl_maxping 200 // It may reduce the number of high ping servers in the browser
ragdoll_enable 0

I have tried all the tweaks I posted above and most of them just make the grafix worse. none of them really boost the FPS except for the maxpackets and maxfps ones.
what did the trick for my pc was mayhems tip to turn the priority of steam process down in the taskmanager. if I turn the priority of cod up my TS goes laggy as shit. so i think i\'m gonna experiment a bit with the processes as its not my gfx card that cant handle the game but my cpu.
will keep u guys posted on the outcome.

Q: Will we get the /connect and /reconnect commands in the next patch?

Treyarch
A: /connect is coming back. maybe not next patch but I promise it is coming back.

Q: Will the last killcam (End of the round) lag too fixed if the patch comes out?

A: TBH I’m not sure yet what is causing killcam choppiness, but we see it too. Will fix.

Q: Not asking specifics, but now that the game is launched, are mod tools ideas being kicked around yet? and congrats on the game!

A:Thanks, man. mod tool dev started already. no bandwidth to discuss until after some patches though.

Q: Will it be possible at some point to have servers with lower max player counts? 18 players in FFA games for example = too chaotic!

A: Will add 12 player playlists.

Q: Will it be possible to put reserved slots for my friends and me on my own ranked server again?

A:We removed the feature because it was abused. will fix.

Q: Are you aware of the bug where theater mode replays are only being saved on some servers? Mostly treyarch servers seem to work

A: Film recording should be fixed – this was a backend config problem for rented ranked servers only

Q: Have you thought about allowing editing of classes in a server?

A: We tried this but had a lot of problems due to the way the data is secured. had to bench the feature for future review.

Q: Hi, if i go into the server browser, sometimes i click on a server nothing happens, its not full etc but its just that nothing happen

Treyarch
A: This is a bug – highlight another server then double-click the one you want to join.

Q: Are there any engine optimisations coming I am above the min spec but still get awful fps in lowest settings, not lag related.

Treyarch
A: We have some nice optimizations for better FPS going into QA tomorrow.

Q: Awesome, will the next patch be in the next couple days you think?

A:Trying to release patch before the weekend. will go into QA tomorrow.

I read on a forum that BO has recording like we used it in cod4 for matches standard set to on< so entering the command
/stoprecord
at the start of each round should stop the recording and in some cases it fixes the lag issue.

might be worth trying out. all the other tweaks I have tried result in a boost of 5 - 10 fps but still not enough.

I had it 7 times on sunday and not at all last night. I think it only happens to me when the servers are slammed so I think it\'s a network issue...again. Another patch, a large one, is due out in the next 10-14 days I hear.

anyway no need anynore to tweak my game. my new hw is installed and the game is running fine.
