FFF & Friends Secret Santa 2014!

Hey all!

In TS last night we floated the idea of doing an FFF & Friends secret santa.

Something like a £10 or £15 limit. Or perhaps £10 + whatever postage is.

It would be open to full FFF members and regular TS friends (or just FFF?)

I'm thinking we could leave registration of interest open for 7-10 days to see who would like to take part.

Then the gifts would have to be posted out before Christmas day.

Due to most of us being located around the world shipping times will vary, so if we have the shipping deadline as Christmas the gifts will start to trickle in shortly thereafter and it would be a nice little post Christmas surprise.

Additionally, depending on who you get. There's always the option of ordering from a local site.

For example, if you didn't want to buy something locally and post it. You could order direct from the local Amazon site for that person (I do this regularly to ship stuff from Amazon.com to my family in America)

From TS last night, so far I believe there's myself, Tats, Shafto, Illu, God (maybe) and TC (maybe) interested

I think it would be a good laugh! Post up with your thoughts, suggestions or if you're game!

It's a great idea. But I'm honestly so skint so if u are guna do it then I'll have to retract I'm afraid. Plus I've looked and I can't see any pink butt plugs for shooter or tats under £10

Haha! No way. Likewise....if you imagine about the combined productivity of the world lost on a daily basis due to people browsing that site we would probably have had astronauts on Mars by like, a year ago

I'm open to suggestions. I've not been involved in a secret santa since I last had real job. So...a couple of years back. Other peeps who have been more active with secret santas may have some good suggestions.

Wikipedia's definition is as follows:

"Secret Santa is a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned a person to whom they anonymously give a gift. Often practiced in workplaces or amongst large families, participation in it is usually voluntary. It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost, since the alternative gift tradition is for each person to buy gifts for every other person. In this way, the Secret Santa tradition also encourages gift exchange groups whose members are not close enough to participate in the alternative tradition of giving presents to everyone else."

• I'm thinking a guide price of roughly £10-£15 give or take, plus shipping.

• Deadline for signing up is approx the 19th.
  
• All gifts must be purchased and in the mail by Christmas day on the 25th
• When you receive your gift you must post pictures of yourself with it in this thread
• I'm open to other rules/suggestions - Maybe @R3dw0lF has some tips from the Reddit SS?

FYI These are the rules of Reddit SS:

Rules for Secret Santa 2014 Exchange

1. You must have an account at reddit.com.
2. When you sign up with redditgifts.com you must use the same username that you use on reddit.com.
3. Use a valid email address. We send important emails.
4. When matches are made, come to redditgifts and retrieve the information. We encourage that you get to know your match with some non-creepy stalking of reddit accounts and whatever a general search gives you. Again, NON-CREEPY.
5. When you ship your gift, come back and mark it shipped.
6. When you receive your gift, come back and tell us all about it! Photos are encouraged.
7. If for some reason you do not receive a gift, you will be able to report that to us approximately 25 days after it was marked shipped. We do not keep track of this through email. You will need to confirm on redditgifts.
8. Do not troll. For real. Being matched with a lurker or new member may be difficult but does not give you a pass to troll.
9. If you do not follow rules 4, 5, 6, you will be banned. These are important details that help us determine when a person needs to be banned.
10. Rematching will occur based on the generosity of redditors. If people do not sign up to give, we can not provide a rematch. Please do not ask to be rematched.
11. If you need to email us, please use the email address linked to your account, include your username, and any information such as your match's username.
12. We cannot guarantee your shipping preferences will be honored. We will try, but sometimes it is impossible. This means you may wish to ship internationally and get someone in your same country or vice versa.

ok so just to be sure. Are we going to do something simular to reddit or are we supposed to sign up with reddit?
The deadline is getting closer.

It would have been similar to reddit, we were just referencing their rules as an example.

I got really busy and ill and didn't have time to get around to sorting this in the end. Lets try and do it next year though, someone remind me if you think of it around November time.
