Let's revive this thread seeing as I have a new desk setup in London!

I've got the same PC as the earlier post in this threads, but now with a newer SSD and an extra HDD.
The monitor is new too, 27" WQHD goodness :D

Got a new wireless keyboard and mouse today!

Keyboard is the solar powered wireless Logitech K750. No wires and I never have to change the batteries!
Mouse is the wireless MX Performance with Darkfield technology so it even tracks on glass, which means no more need for a mouse mat!

Just ordered new GXF, ASUS GTX660 Ti-DC2T-2GD5 2048MB DDR5 and Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB drive.

Big question is should I install windows 8 or save 100€ and continue using windows 7?

Definitely don't pay for Windows 8 if you have Windows 7.

See i would have said its worth upgrading to windows 8, my FPS has increased a little, and cpu temps are also down a touch.
The thing is it is designed for use with computers that don't exactly have many horses behind them, therefore it works that little bit better.
But then if your happy with the way windows 7 is working, then its probably worth just spending that €100 on beer :D

p.s. the whole windows 8 experience is much better with a touch screen so that's something to Bear in mind.

p.p.s. this is also coming from someone who gets windows for free :p *yay being a student*

I also get Windows 8 for free as a student :p If I didn't though I don't know if I'd have bothered upgrading.

If it's for a gaming PC then your not going to have a touchscreen, as a power user who messes with the control panel alot I find it very frustrating. What takes me 3 actions on Windows 7 takes me 7 actions on windows 8 (accessing the sound controls using a keyboard), all because of the annoying way the start menu return search results.

It is slightly better in certain respects - but definitely not 100 euro better IMO. I'd spend that cash on an SSD, major upgrade on graphics or lots of beer!

Thanks m8's. Added to the order second SSD :) Now own for games and own for windows etc.

How about with Steam, should I take something in account when formatting of hard drives?
Do I have to save some Steam files or are games loaded automatically when connecting to Steam?

The games will load automatically when you click on them in your steam games. ;)

Before wiping your hard drive make a back up of all the games you have installed on an external hard drive.

You don't have to do this, but it will save you having to re-download them all again.

Go to your Steam library, right click on a game, then click Backup Game Files

Repeat this for all your games :)
