If we're just talking about COD I think having the following is what gives you the best return on investment:

  • A net connection with the lowest ping possible
  • A graphics card good enough to run at a constant smooth 60FPS for whatever resolution you're running
  • A decent keyboard/mouse
  • Map knowledge
  • A decent headset sound setup
  • High res monitor is a bonus

I really don't think having a supercomputer helps after you hit a pretty mediocre hardware peak, then it just comes down to the user and a combination of the above. If you have a reasonable amount of each of the above you'll probably perform better than someone with a £600 GPU but lacking big time in any other given category

Interestingly a big monitor can have a negative impact because you have to move your head to see everything. I think you should all swap to 15" laptops :p

Yeah...It's a tough one that. Maybe a smaller screen but higher resolution?
Maybe I'm wrong on the resolution, because don't some competitive Counter Strike players play at very low resolution to make it easier to differentiate between players and the surroundings? It looks more blocky to them.
For me that defeats the purpose of getting a game with half decent graphics though :p

it does indeed, tbh i think its just what you get used to. If high pixel density is what you like then a lower size with a higher res, but thats what i like now :)

lol, yeah. I'm a full time student in London, but I run a print shop for students in Nottingham on the side. Brand new the big one would set you back about £12k

You'll see the size of the banners that come out of it when I post up pics of the banner that Ac3y designed for the LAN Zone banner competition, gonna do a massive 1m x 3m banner

I have been happy with G13. No problems at all. Hairyfoot is also using g13.

I've made a few upgrades since the last time I posted here.

Tripple 27" 1440x2560 goodness for 6 full screen apps at once, plus a laptop with wireless headset as Skype VOIP machine synced with my iPhone contacts via iCloud for making call backs, spare 24" monitor on the left currently unused.

Anyone else want to post their current setup?

fek me i stuggled in the big alliance battles controlling one character! It gets so laggy! He must be paying over £120 a month on EVE alone!
