New monitor

I'm thinking to buy new monitor but can't decide which one.
My present monitor I bought at 2006 or 2007 and haven't followed development so would need your help on selection.
Should I go for 4K or G-SYNC?

4k is still ludicrously expensive (unless you're loaded?) It definitely still lies in the aspirational product category.

It's about £2k for a decent one over here in the UK. Only just heard about G-Sync, but it sounds really good from what I hear. Some people say it's like stepping your graphics card up a notch because of the way it eliminates tearing and stuttering.

What's your budget?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a monitor these days less than 27" (unless there's a size restriction on your desk). And with that 27" it needs to be at 1440x2560 resolution, many of which aren't. It's the perfect res for 2 full screen apps at once and if you have a decent card, games look sick at that res

I have been thinking about 500€ display. Could be a bit more in case giving some added value.
I didn't know that 4k displays are that expensive.
Find out that only few makers have these G-sync monitors, Asus, benQ and Philips.
It was new for me that Asus is making also monitors. Philips TVs have at least had a problems so that is out of makers list.

My dell u2711 runs at that res, initially your gonna get your ass kicked in game things appear smaller due to the added lines so distance shots will take time to maser but its ultimately worth it.
If I have to use the wifes pc I don't have as much on screen real estate and 1920x1200 looks over magnified to my eyes now.
Good luck but have a look at one in a shop if you can before buying it might not agree with you m8.

Find out that g-sync displays aren't available yet, should come still within this month.
Options are Asus rog swift PG278Q or Benq XL2720G.
I'm wondering how price will be.

Checked space available and not enough for 27". Has to go for 24".

Yeah, 1920x1200 can still look really good on a 24" display. That's what my old HP was.

I mainly love the 1440x2560 for productivity reasons.

Find out that both Benq has postponed availability of their G-sync till Q2 and Asus it's also Q2

My nerves aren't good enough for waiting several months so ordered Asus VG248QE (which I should be enable upgrade later on to G-sync).

Ended up to upgrade my graphic card at the same time and order also MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr OC.
