Great segment from the TV show 60 minutes yesterday that covers loads more about Amazon at the moment and goes into more depth about the drones near the end. The earliest they'll be usable IRL is about 2015, but more likely 4-5 years.

Yeah, some of my old paintball mates have a few of these drones with cameras mounted to them that the fly around on site.

Yeah, I think that's what they guy who recorded the video in my previous post bought first, before he upgraded to one a couple of hundred quid dearer which is what he used to record that vid.

They seem like they could be pretty good fun! When I was a kid I used to build and fly the Estes model rockets like the one in this vid (Launch at 5 min mark)

They were awesome fun, it seems like these drones the next generation's model rocket toy. Would love to have a play around with one, although I'm not sure I could justify dropping £300 on one. It would be great fun to try and get some neat camera footage flying about.

Well I was watching the gadget show last night and there are some much cheaper 'toy' versions that do pretty much the same thing and are fully working quadcopters but are made out of polystyrene. Wouldn't want to try it in high winds but ideal for mucking about with.

I'm currently trying to avoid taking myself into getting an ar done.
