Using liquid metal Tim on your cpu

I prefer some Arctic silver 5 or even some Arctic silver ceramique.
That looks a bit dangerous for my liking however forward thinking ( is it mercury based just out of interest ) ....

I'd be very surprised if it has mercury, I imagine that would be illegal.

Just googled out of curiosity and the stuff OcUK stocks is non toxic

I wonder if there's anyway you can remove the Liquid Metal after it's been on your cpu? probably could with a soldiering iron but then you run the risk of de-soldering your CPU (if its AMD the risk would be higher)

I'm with Skellen, I use Artic Silver 5 in all the builds I do including my own along side the thermal cleaning solution from Artic Silver

I'm half tempted to give it a go on my Macbook Pro, which is my daily driver now.

It's 5 years old, so out of warranty, but still runs great. It just had a new battery and screen fitted by Apple last month, so feels like a new laptop.

The only thing is it can get hot when I connect it to an ultrawide monitor or dual external monitors, it's also one of the last few Macbooks that you can actually take apart. The new ones are pretty much impossible to tear down.
